This year’s NSSA regatta is extra special and not to be missed as it will be a ‘home’ event hosted jointly by Downs SC and KSSA with the sailing taking place at Downs SC.

You are invited to represent KSSA as part of Kent Team. The event will have class racing for Topper, ILCA4 (Laser 4.7), ILCA6 (Laser Radial), Slow Handicap, Fast Handicap and Regatta (Rookie) Fleets. In order to join the Kent Team , you will be expected to have competed in at least 2 KSSA events this year prior to the regatta. Competitors new to the event are very much encouraged and the Regatta Fleet is for sailors in their first year of racing.

For those of you who have not attended an NSSA event before then here’s a quick guide to what’s it’s all about:

• NSSA: National Schools Sailing Association – this is their annual regatta which attracts teams of sailors of all abilities from regions across the UK.
• To enter as part of the KSSA team you need to be a member of the KSSA AND be a member of the NSSA (membership via their website).
• KSSA do not select their team, all participating members are invited to be a part of the team.  All who sail earn points which count towards the team’s final score.
• KSSA is always well represented by a team of between 20-30 sailors.
• Sailing is fleet based with a Regatta Fleet for sailors in their first year of racing who are competing away from home for the first time.
• KSSA sailors are supported at the event by team manager Paddy Denby as well as our youth captains: Sophie, Dan and Jacob.
• Families usually choose to camp. The event campsite will be at Deal rugby club which is 6 minutes walk from the sailing club.
• After sailing there is a programme of evening activities for the sailors to socialise.

Entry Instructions

Please do not attempt to enter the event directly, this must be completed by KSSA and the Kent Team Manager. Further instructions on how to enter will be provided near to the event.
