New Season Training at Dover – 25th January 2020
The new season started with a well-attended first training day, at Dover Sea Sports. Some 36 sailors in 33 boats took part, ably coached by KSSA’s own double act Stan & Olly, assisted by Mark Thomas and Pierce Seward.
Although the thermometer hung around the 5ºC mark, the light winds meant it didn’t become bitter, and almost no one fell in, while there was enough puff for some downwind training in the faster fleet and boat speed control in the slower fleet.
Our hosts, Dover Sea Sports, did a fine job with the facilities, arranging car parking and providing hot lunches bang on time. While teas and coffees were available, cake was missing from the menu – but successfully tracked down on a reconnaissance of the locality. So happiness all round.
As ever, thanks must also go to the volunteers (parents mostly) both on the water and onshore who help make these events happen. And well done to Dale Windridge on stepping up and making a successful – and well coordinated – first day as Lead Safety.
Lots of pictures in the gallery.
The next training comes on 7th March at Bough Beech. Looking forward to seeing you there.
