2023 New Racers
KSSA New Racers event is specially designed for young people without or with very limited racing experience and expertise. Please come along, even if you don’t have your own boat (see below).
Online New Racer Introduction
Date / time: Friday 19 May at 7pm
Steve Mitchell RYA Regional Devlopment Officer and KSSA Commitee Member will be offering an online briefing to participants and parents for both those who book and anyone else considering maybe joining the event but might want to hear more information before they commit. This will be carried out over Microsoft Teams. The invite will be sent to all those that have entered by this date, or please Contact Us and we will send you the invitation.
COACHES & HELPERS: The staffing of the event will be by the adults of KSSA & RSC with senior KSSA sailors coaching afloat in RIBs. Parents will be especially welcome on the shoreline to help their children with launch and recovery.
FACILITIES: Redoubt SC is in a secure site and the access gates will be open 08.30-09.30hrs. Should you arrive later, please park up and use the pedestrian access gate – it’s only a short walk. When you enter, you will be asked by the warden whether you are going on the water, or you are not. Please make sure that only the sailors and those actually going afloat are counted.
The RSC toilets will be open throughout the day but there are very limited changing facilities. There will be sheltered places to change & store your clothes if you are not able to arrive ready to go afloat.
Parents may wish to bring a fold away chair.

SAILING BOATS: We expect most of the action afloat to be in Toppers, Teras, Optimists, Topazs, Picos and Feva dinghies. You are very welcome to bring your own boat but there some Toppers and Tapaz dinghies available to use FREE OF CHARGE on a first come first served basis. Enter now to reserve yours!
Parents help with moving & rigging / de-rigging boats on the shore will a great assistance.
REFRESHMENTS: Please bring a picnic for lunch and between action ‘nibbles’. We hope to offer hot drinks.
ENTRY: You must enter and pay for this event online in advance using the WebCollect link below. Entry closes at midnight Wednesday before the event.
KSSA events are organised for members but as this is an Introductory event the £10 KSSA membership fee will be waived if this is your first event.
